Craig from Craigslist

Craig Newmark is a tech entrepreneur and founder of the $80 million per annum craigslist site.

Craig hopes to use his profile, philanthropy and interest in "participatory democracy" to leverage support for Obama for president. Since Mike Smith has been involved in the Obama for President campaign since Day One: in Iowa, Texas and Virginia primaries - Craig turned to MSBD for public affairs, advance and PR work. MSBD helped transform Craig's technology position and activity in Calif. liberal causes into a national political pundit.

Public Affairs

MSBD created access for Craig Newmark at the Democratic National Convention and with DNC officials. Meetings attended with Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and Senator Hoyer, Governor Warner and Corzine. Meetings with Calif Reps. Jane Harman and Zoe Lofgren.

MSBD obtained press credentials and worked with Reuters to provide a blog/video column for Craig during the convention. Mike Smith further assisted Craig with the Obama for President campaign gaining a tech surrogate speaker role and attending the small business platform committee.

Advance

MSBD also generated a power-packed schedule of convention floor and related parties. Worked with New Democratic Network, Creative Coalition *Hollywood stars, and centrist democrat groups for credentials. Mike made introductions, providing context to political meetings, and a seat at the table.

PR

MSBD assisted Craig in interviews with CNN, Wired, Rocky Mountain News, local Denver radio and TV. Mike and Craig had access to the CNN press suite throughout the convention. Meetings with Anderson Cooper, John King, Candy Crowley, and other notables.

Mike Smith also provided access to editorial board meetings or interviews with: Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, New York Times, The Politico.

Stories about the MSBD political involvement and transformation of Craig appeared in PR NEWS, Potomac Tech Wire, Reuters and the Huffington Post. Mike Smith wrote five video posts for Reuters.com and three blog entries for Huff Post during the convention week.
